Amazon is expected to complete the acquisition of a French package-delivery company, Colis Privé, in the first quarter of this year. This will be the biggest step the E commerce giant has taken in delivering their packages. Although the company is not based in the US and is relatively small compared to the industry leaders UPS, DHL and Fedex it is a start where Amazon will be a competitor to their long time delivery partners.
Amazon’s top spokesman, Craig Berman, declined to comment on Colis Privé or the company’s plans for the shipping business. Some analysts believe that Amazon is creating a feat across the globe to set up its own package-delivery service which will eventually compete to the shipping industry giants. The company has been purchasing shares of shipping companies and has recently been reported negotiating to lease 20 Boeing 767 cargo jets.
Amazon is really taking steps in to have their own shipping business. In the end, this will definitely benefit the consumers as they will be able to deliver the goods faster.
