Amazon acquires NICE, maker of high-performance computing software

Amazon has just added another company under its wings.  It has acquired a software company Nice, announced via a blog post on Friday.


Nice is based in Asti, Italy which makes software and provides services for “high performance and technical computing.  Nice is best made known for its software EnginFrame that simplifies the accessing and interaction with HPCs and visualization farms.  With this acquisition, it is a part of Amazon upgrading AWS, the retailer’s cloud-computing platform, as it attempts to expand the business. On Tuesday, Amazon launched Lumberyard, a new 3D game engine that enables developers to build and operate cloud-based games with the help of AWS.
